Difference between polyethylene wax and Fischer Tropsch wax


Polyethylene wax is also called polymer wax, which is called polyethylene wax for short. It is widely used because of its excellent cold resistance, heat resistance, chemical resistance and wear resistance. Polyethylene wax has good compatibility with polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl acetate, ethylene propylene rubber and butyl rubber, and can improve the fluidity of polyethylene, polypropylene and ABS and the demoulding property of polymethylmethacrylate and polycarbonate. Compared with other external lubricants, polyethylene wax has stronger internal lubrication for PVC.

Fischer Tropsch wax is a methylene polymer, which is an alkane polymer synthesized from hydrocarbon based synthetic gas or natural gas.

Fischer Tropsch synthesis has received intermittent attention as a source of low sulfur diesel fuel to solve the supply or cost of petroleum based hydrocarbons. The key technology of Fischer Tropsch synthetic wax production lies in catalysts. The commonly used catalysts include iron-based catalysts and drill based catalysts. Iron based catalyst is mainly used to produce Fischer Tropsch synthetic wax with drop melting point below 105 ℃, and cobalt based catalyst can only be used for Fischer Tropsch synthetic wax with higher melting point. The appearance and performance of Fischer Tropsch wax produced by drill based catalyst are better than those produced by iron-based catalystFischer Tropsch wax has good compatibility with PVC and can be used as internal and external lubricant. It can be used as a good internal lubricant to effectively control shear conditions, promote flow, control friction and melting properties, so as to improve thermal stability. At the same time, due to its high crystallinity and high linearity structure, Fischer Tropsch wax makes PVC products obtain the best physical and processing properties.Similarly, as a PVC lubricant, Fischer Tropsch wax is often compared with polyethylene wax. The significant difference between them is that:

1. Molecular weight. The molecular weight of Fischer Tropsch wax is much lower than that of PE wax, with less branched chains and high crystallinity. It is easy to penetrate into the high viscosity macromolecular chain, significantly reduce the melt viscosity, have small mobility in the processing process and obvious lubrication effect in the later stage.

2. Fischer Tropsch wax is saturated direct alkane, without double bond, with strong antioxidant capacity and good weather resistance.
3. The viscosity of Fischer Tropsch wax is much lower than that of PE wax. Only about 10. The same lubrication effect can be achieved with less dosage. Fischer Tropsch wax has good compatibility with PVC and can be used as internal and external lubricant.
