The acid value represents the polarity of the oxidized wax, which can be simply considered as the number of polar groups grafted by the oxidized wax. The higher the acid value, the more polar groups are represented.


Oxidized polyethylene wax is a PVC lubricant with both internal and external functions. In the actual processing of PVC, the higher the acid value, the more obvious the internal lubrication effect of the oxidized wax, and the faster the plasticizing speed. It is generally suitable to use about 16 as a lubricant. For example, the plasticizing speed of a product with an acid value of 30 is obviously faster than that of a product with an acid value of 16, so it is more suitable for PVC products with higher plasticizing requirements, such as SPC flooring, stone plastic wallboard and other high filling products. On the other hand, when the acid value of oxidized polyethylene wax is higher and the wax is more internally lubricated, its external lubrication effect will be relatively weakened. Therefore, oxidized wax with low acid value is more suitable for PVC products with high requirements for later demoulding and surface. Such as shrink film and calendered sheet.

The oxidized wax in PVC is generally divided into two types according to density, namely, high-density oxidized polyethylene wax and low-density oxidized polyethylene wax. High density wax has high viscosity, and the drop point is generally about 140 degrees. In PVC, it can increase the plasticizing speed and improve the metal peeling property. The viscosity of low-density oxidized polyethylene wax is low, and the drop point is generally about 95-110 degrees. It does not increase the plasticizing effect. It mainly plays the role of external sliding like PE wax, but has good compatibility and dispersion. Different PVC products require different oxidation waxes to be added. Pipes, profiles, plates and pellets are different, depending on the production and processing requirements.
